Welcome to

Freedom of Worship

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation"

Mark 16:15

Our History

Our church began as a mission outreach of Adment Baptist Church, established with the purpose of serving the spiritual needs of the local community. Through faith, dedication, and steady growth, the mission soon developed into an independent church body.

Under the leadership and vision of Pastor George Penley, a clear calling emerged to create a permanent place of worship in the area. The congregation first gathered in a humble setting—an old store building located along Highway 58 on Wilderness Road—where a strong foundation of faith and fellowship was formed.

As the church continued to grow, that vision became a reality. A dedicated church building was constructed on the property where the church stands today, providing a lasting home for worship, ministry, and community outreach.

About Us

Pastor Matthew Thompson & Bobbie Jo Thompson

Matthew accepted his call to preach in July 1992 and later graduated with an Associate Degree of Biblical Studies in April 1998.

Since then, he has had the privilege of preaching and teaching God’s Word at many different churches. He served as a youth pastor for many years before being ordained as a minister in November 2009, when he became the pastor of Lighthouse Baptist.

Matthew and his wife, Bobbie Jo, joined Freedom Of Worship (formerly Grace Baptist) in 2011, and Matthew became the pastor that same year.

God has blessed them immensely throughout this time, allowing them to build many wonderful relationships.

“It is our constant prayer that God’s hands are always the ones leading Freedom Of Worship.”

John Wayne “Mickey” Sexton & Billie N. Sexton

John Wayne “Mickey” Sexton and Billie N. Sexton were married on September 8, 2024, and together made the powerful decision to rededicate their lives to the Lord.

Mickey was baptized around the age of 12. He joined the church in October 2022 and faithfully answered the call to serve, becoming a Deacon on May 16, 2025. Billie was also baptized around the age of 12 and joined the church on September 8, 2024—the same day they began their journey together in marriage and faith.

Their love for God and commitment to His work shines through in everything they do. When you come to Freedom Of Worship, you will be welcomed with open arms—and Mickey and Billie are a big part of that loving spirit. They are always willing to do whatever is needed for the church, serving faithfully and humbly. Watching God work through them is nothing short of amazing.

Jon Moore & Melissa Harless Moore

Missy Moore has been a faithful member of the church since 1982, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to serving the Lord and her church family. Jon Moore began attending in 1994 and has faithfully grown in his walk with Christ, becoming a deacon in 2013.

Together, Jon and Missy exemplify dedication, compassion, and servant leadership. They consistently demonstrate their love for the church through their willingness to serve, often being among the first to step in and lend a helping hand wherever needed.

Their commitment and heart for ministry continue to be a blessing to the entire congregation.
